The new version (1.07) is outstanding!

That being said, here is my dream for the future:

Configuration utility that would allow for the selection of font sizes (currently very tiny on my Omnia WQVGA screen) and data lines displayed (speed, heading, etc. could be switched on and off by the configuration utility).

Are any of these in the forecast?

Thanks!

Agree!!

my wish was Slim-Mode.
It shows only GPS ON/OFF, and lat/long.
Like GPS Toggle.
But, the suggestion by you, Mike(wd4sgu) is including mine.

Does anybody say, "Use the GPS-Toggle!!" ?
GPS-Toggle doesn't support my device, TOSHIBA T-01A(Japanese TG01).
And I like GPS2day on the speed for catching satelites.

@d_inoue:

Greetings and welcome!

Yes, I've used GPS Toggle (not enough information for me) and TGPS (uses too much CPU, unreadable on my Omnia) and find both of them useful in different ways. GPS2Day is the most functional for me, but the font is so small on my Omnia screen I can hardly see it.

It is the fastest in locking on to satellites. Hopefully soon we'll see this request granted.

To Mike and d_inoue,
Thanks for your useful activity in my forum.

Probably I should explain my UI solution and slightly open the dark side of my UI development design.
The primary my goal was collection more valuable information for users, which I can get from the GPS receiver and display it on the minimum space, this is a reason of the use small fonts.

Basic UI design is provided to the classic screen resolution 240x320.
For 1, 2 lines I’m using fonts, smaller than system default font, 8pt instead 9pt.
For 3, 4 lines and battery status text – 7,5pt

As you can see this is the static UI design, so I can’t remove nothing, because some space reserved for two icons, located at the bottom right corner. If I remove some line the whole composition becomes damaged by images and texts overlapping.

I can suggest other static UI solution, which more readable for users. In this design I’m using standard system font for 1, 2 lines and slightly smaller for other text. I’ll keep the old UI, so user can choose between two possible views in the application settings.

What can you say about this suggestion?

Hi, Sergei.

Now first, I appreciate your new UI suggestion.
I also welcome that the fonts (lat/long and Speed, Course) get bigger.

Then based on yours, my opinion is below.

I wrote before, my wish is getting slimmer.

1. No battery status
You said,
> which I can get from the GPS receiver
there is no space for battery status.
There are too many Today-plugins which include the feature.
(I use built-in titlebar icon)

2. Space for 2 icons, overlayed
As I see, the triangle alart icon appears when it is impossible to show lat/long, Speed and Course because of GPS service or GPS device problem.

3. Make (A) Setelites & Fix AND (B) Sattellite time, optional
User can choose show or not about each information and the total height changes as the choise.

That's all...
In addition, how about the integration of the satellite icon and the status icon (red and green)?

d_inoue,
As I explain earlier some space reserved for 2 icons for some user's actions. Currently you can see the warning alarm only.
Perhaps it makes sense to define different kinds of views, when GPS running:
1. Normal (as now)
2. Large ( see my previous 2 picture)
3. Tiny. Without additional user's interaction, just digits and units.

Unfortunately your design is not acceptable because long strings on languages other than English or Japanese. Even application icon and status icon overlapping does not help in this case.
Thanks.

Great Application Thank You!

Is there any way to change the sound when a GPS connection is made? It would be great if we could customize the sounds and add our own.
Also, dumb question but how do I determine which version I'm using on my device?
Thank you so much!

Giovanni
